The Stella Maris Academy Crest
The Shield: In all circumstances, hold faith as a shield, to quench all [the] flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:16
The Marian M: The SMA Marian M represents the Marian M of the Miraculous Medal.
The Sword: So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and then of the other one who was crucified with Jesus. But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs, but one soldier thrust his lance into his side, and immediately blood and water flowed out. John 19:32-34
The Star: The star represents Mary, Star of the Sea, always guiding us to her son, Jesus Christ.
The Color, Marian Blue: Mary is often depicted in blue, various shades, but more often “Marian blue”. Blue depicts her holy nature approaching the divine, the color of the sky or heaven.
