“What is going on in those little heads?”: The Middle School Mind

Recently while stopping by to grab a drink at my favorite coffee shop, the barista behind the counter gestured to a gaggle of bubbly 13-year-olds and pointedly asked, “What is going on in those little heads?” I laughed and said, “Well, the answer is… A LOT.” I then offered an impromptu run-down of all the cognitive, physical, hormonal, and emotional development bombarding those “little heads.”

'God’s Little Flower': Remembering Our Beginning

In the midst of the fun and chaos, one group of girls sit to the side of the playground, admiring a small garden with beautiful, bright yellow flowers.

The sign by the garden reads “2nd Grade First Communion Garden. Dedicated to Sister Samuella. Re-established 2011”. Hidden beneath the garden’s worn sign and pretty flowers is a rich history.
